ASR4Memory at the NFDI4Memory Summer School
News from Sep 10, 2026
The annual NFDI4Memory Summer School will take place in Munich at the Bavarian State Library from 9 to 11 September 2026. Under the motto "Bridging the Gaps," this year's edition will address questions of multilingualism in historical scholarship and research (data) infrastructures. The aim is to discuss looming gaps between the development of technical infrastructures and historical research and data management practices, and to explore strategies for closing these gaps. At the Summer School, Marc Altmann and Peter Kompiel will present the project "ASR4Memory." In particular, they will discuss challenges in the automatic transcription of underrepresented languages and multilingual audio, and outline possible solutions for overcoming them. In a live demo, they will present the web application MMT (Media Management Tool), which integrates file upload, ASR, a transcript editor and anonymization.
