CfP Oral History Network Meeting 2026 in Hagen
News from Sep 10, 2026
The Oral History Network will meet on 13/14 May 2027 at the FernUniversität in Hagen.
In 2027, the Institute for History and Biography at the FernUniversität in Hagen will be the partner and host of the Oral History network meeting. As every year, with this call for papers we invite proposals for contributions from research and from memory institutions (memorials, archives, libraries and museums) that work with oral history. Building on the closing discussion at the 2026 network meeting, we are particularly interested in contributions addressing questions of secondary analysis or the advantages and disadvantages of group interviews. We also welcome contributions on interdisciplinary projects. As in previous years, there will also be an opportunity to present your own projects to colleagues in brief form. We will decide on the format of these presentations later (short talk, poster session, project fair, Pecha Kucha presentation, etc.). We would like not only to continue but also to expand the "listening sessions" that have now been held twice: for these, you bring selected interview material, which is then discussed in moderated small groups known as "listening groups." If you are interested in discussing your own material in a protected setting, please send a short abstract outlining the respective case example and the central question or issue. Please register by 30 November 2026 with Stefan Müller (stefan.mueller@fes.de) or Linde Apel (apel@zeitgeschichte-hamburg.de), indicating whether you are applying for a talk, a listening session, or a short project presentation. The abstract should not exceed 300 words and should include a short biographical note about yourself as well as your contact details. Please note that the network is unable to cover travel costs. However, catering will be provided during the meeting.
